Cruise Excursions

For the past couple of weeks, J and I have been going back and forth about what we want to do in each of the ports on our upcoming cruise.  We'll be going to Key West, Grand Cayman, and Ocho Rios.  The only one we've been to before is Grand Cayman, so we're excited to get to experience some new places.

Key West

My main goal for Key West is to see the Southernmost Point and take a picture.  Lame, I know!

So, we're going to walk down Whitehead Street towards the Southernmost Point.  Along the way, we're going to stop at the lighthouse and Hemingway House to take pictures.  After we see the Southernmost Point, we're going to walk back up Duval Street.  Then, we're going to stop for some Key Lime Pie and some Conch Fritters.

Since we've never been to Key West, we're excited to just walk around and see the sights.  Plus, we'll get in some exercise while we're at it (it will be about a 3 mile walk).

Grand Cayman

Last time we were in Grand Cayman, we swam with the stingrays and went to Rum Point.  This time, I really wanted to go see the turtle farm.

We're going to book a Carnival excursion called Explore Cayman by Land and Sea.  It's $59.95 per person and sounds like a great value for the money!

The first thing you do is board a semi-submarine that takes you around to see the reef.  I think this is a great way to see underneath the water if you don't like the snorkel.

After you're done with the semi-sub, you hop on a bus to take you on a small tour around the island.  It then takes you to the turtle farm, where you get to turtles ranging for newborn babies to huge ones!  After you're done at the turtle farm, they take you to Hell and then to a rum cake shop.

I'm very excited to see different parts of Grand Cayman and also to hold some baby turtles!

Ocho Rios

You can't go to Ocho Rios without climbing Dunn's River Falls.  We're going to book another Carnival excursion for this port.  Here we're planning on doing the Cool Runnings Sail and Dunn's River Falls for $60.95 per person.

Instead of riding to and from the falls on a bus, you get to sail over there on a catamaran with free rum punch!

Hopefully I don't bust my butt on the slippery rocks!

Pictures were taken from Carnival's website.  Map was from Mapquest.

  1. Your Key West plan sounds great. You should also be passing near the Mile 0 sign on your walk down! Google the exact street corner. The walk feels short because the blocks are not that long. I've walked up and back that several times. :)

  2. Thanks! I'm so excited about Key West. We live in Florida and never been, so I think it will be pretty cool to actually get to walk around and see the sights.

  3. Don't buy into the people who are trying to sell the videos at Dunn's River Falls. They're a gimick (either blank DVDs or a movie like Charlie's Angels taken in a movie theater) and the cruise lines try to warn people but so many fall victim to them.
