We're about a month out from our cruise now, so we've started looking at shore excursions. Since we live in Florida, we're not big beach people, so we try to avoid those type of days. All these excursions are from Carnival, but we might branch out and do them with a private tour company.
Here are the excursions we're looking at in Cozumel. We're leaning more towards just shopping in Cozumel, but not 100% sure yet.
The Mayan Ruins of Tulum -- $89.99 per person
This excursion is on the mainland (which is where we went last time we stopped in Cozumel) and you have to take a 45 minute ferry over there. Then, you have a one hour bus ride to the ruins. At the ruins you get a tour and there are free to roam on your own. The ruins overlook a gorgeous beach area. I've heard that Tulum are some of the best ruins to go see.
Mayan Ruins & Beach -- $59.99 per person
These ruins are on the island of Cozumel, so we wouldn't have to worry about a ferry or a really long bus ride. But they don't look nearly as big and exciting.
These are some of the excursions we're looking at in Grand Cayman. There's a bunch of cool water excursions to do in Grand Cayman, but I'm concerned the water temperature is going to be a little too cold this time of year.
Stingray Sandbar, Hell, & Turtle Farm -- $69.99 per person
I'm really interested in going to the Stingray Sandbar and the Turtle Farm. Hell looks boring as heck, but it seems to be a regular on these kind of tours. I could probably book this excursion a lot cheaper with a private tour guide.
Best of Cayman Island Tour -- $54.99 per person
This excursion would keep us out of the water, but leaves off one of the coolest things, which is the Stingray Sandbar. This tour takes you to Ft. George, Seven Mile Beach, Governer's House, Turtle Farm, Tortuga Rum Outlet, and Hell.
Have you been to either of our ports of call? I would love to hear what kind of excursions you did while you were there.
I've never been to any of those places, but my parents had a trip to the Caymans a few years ago, and they also went to Mexico on another trip. We don't do cruises, so they had a little more freedom to do what they wanted, but they really loved Stingray Sandbar (If I remember correctly, they have wetsuits available), and said that Tulum was one of the neatest places they've visited ever!
ReplyDeleteThanks for looking these up and sharing! We think we'll do ruins in Cozumel (the big, far ones) and we're looking at not doing an excursion on Grand Cayman. We heard that you can just grab a taxi for $3 and they'll take you to deserted beaches or local shops/restaurants. If you stick with the crowds... you'll be with them all day. Grand Cayman is supposedly safe enough to go out and venture on your own!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I went on a Carnival cruise this past October. We stopped in Cayman as well. We did the Stingray City and Rum Point Beach excursion. I was a little freaked out about the stingrays but it was a lot of fun. I would definitely suggest the stingrays.
