Cleaning Schedule

I found an awesome cleaning schedule on Hip2Save.  We are horrible at keeping our apartment cleaning, so this is something I need to adapt to our household.  So, here's my adapted version of her cleaning schedule.

- Sweep all hardwood floors and vacuum

- Clean bathrooms

- Dust

- Sweep patio

- Clean and sanitize litter box
- Wash clothes

- Clean kitchen
- Wash towels

- Change and wash all sheets and bedding
- Empty all waste baskets

Daily Duties
- Make beds
- Put dirty clothes in the hamper

- Wipe down sink
- Tidy countertop

- Wash and store all pots and pans
- Wipe down counter and oven
- Take out trash, if needed

Living spaces
- Pick up things that don't belong

Monthly Duties
- Windex all glass doors
- Clean and dust blinds
- Replace air filter on AC unit
- Wipe down walls and baseboards
- Organize cabinets in the kitchen
- Thoroughly clean top and inside of refrigerator
- Clean oven interior

Annual/Quarterly Duties
- Flip mattresses
- Rid closets and drawers of items to go to Goodwill
- Clean out medicine cabinet and towel closet
- Pull out refrigerator to vacuum coils
- Throw out expired food items in cabinets
- Shampoo carpets and rugs
- Clean dryer vent


  1. That’s a great schedule! Our problem is that we have absolutely no time to do any major cleaning on the weekdays and tend to save it all for the weekends, when we’re also busy. A cleaning service has been considered before, and will likely be considered again after the wedding.

  2. Thanks for sharing. I, like the commenter before me, also have a problem finding time during the week. I think I might need to find a modified schedule that allows for a few nights of nothing a week... now you've got me thinking. Thanks!

  4. This gives me cold sweats. I am so messy and just thinking about having a (choke) cleaning SCHEDULE... scary. Wish I was a more natural cleaner.
